Android smartphones have been trying to rival with iPhones for a long time but they have so far been unsuccessful in this task. Samsung sometimes represented strong competition with their S phones but it’s been a really long time since they have come up with something good to make iPhone fans leave their gadgets and welcome an Android phone.
However, Samsung seems to have made a comeback with the marvelous Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, which users and reviewers seem to be content with. It is strong, with its main body made of metal that the producers say is better than the one used on their other phones. It also has layers of glass on both back and front. The design is qualitative as well. It is quite thin (7 mm) and light (132 grams), making easy to handle with one hand only. Right now it is available in three shades – dark blue, gold and white. However, reviewers claim that it is difficult to protect due to its slippery glass layers.
The display of this phone gives it authenticity, due to its screen that has curves on both sides. Some users say that it has the best and sharpest screen ever seen on a smartphone, with a 2,560×1,440 pixels resolution. Moreover, the settings allow you to juggle colors and tones manually whenever you want, enabling you to use it in whatever light you wish, whether bright or dim.
The phone comes with a 16 megapixel camera which takes very good photos and again rivals the top iPhones, even regarding macro photography. The photos have good contrast and tones and they capture details in a very professional manner. Moreover, the 4K videos are very well focused and clear, with very good sound. At the same time, the 5 megapixel front camera enables the user to take quite good selfies and have high quality Skype conferences.
The battery lasts around 26 hours while used at a medium to high level, which is a very good score, even compared to iPhone 6 that is said to have a very good battery. The bad news is that this phone does not support swappable batteries either.
As far as the software is concerned, it seems that Samsung has fixed all the shortcomings that were signaled with its other phones and the performance is exquisite.
However good looking and good the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is, it does come at a price. It costs $ 760, but most reviewers say that it is really worth it since it is the best you can get from smartphones so far – top quality battery life, storage, design, camera and display. Thus, Samsung has, without the shadow of a doubt, created a smartphone that is fully equipped to knock down competition and is here to stay.
