North Korea was dissatisfied with the way American officials treated a group of Korean diplomats. The country blamed the U.S. for the inappropriate conduct with which it greeted North Korea representatives at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. They reportedly tried to get hold of a diplomatic package by use of force.
North Korean Official Paper Condemned U.S. Inappropriate Conduct as an Act of Mugging
The group of Korean diplomats was on their way home from a U.S. conference that took place last Friday. However, the official Korean Central News Agency revealed an article on Sunday that shared some astounding details. First of all, the diplomats in question were surrounded by around 20 police officers as soon as they arrived at the airport. Afterward, they made numerous attempts to get a hold of the official documents they were carrying.
The group of diplomats was actually in possession of an official diplomatic courier certificate. The publication was not shy from naming this gesture as a mugging act on behalf of the U.S. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned this event as a malicious instigation.
America and North Korea Are Engaged in Numerous Conflicts
However, this inappropriate conduct represents just the tip of an iceberg. America and North Korea have been trying to reach an agreement regarding the latter’s ambitious plans for weapons programs. This recent event will only make these already slow talks even more difficult.
U.S. diplomats have been trying for an entire year to free American prisoners from North Korea’s possession. However, all circumstances indicate that such negotiations can reach a conclusion only after agreeing with North Korea’s top nuclear negotiator.
One of the victims that were caught against their will in the fires between the two nations was Otto Warmbier. This is a U.S. student whom North Korea held hostage for a period of time. U.S. officials managed to obtain his release. However, the young boy has been in a coma for more than a year. The causes that forced him under this state are unknown.
