The biggest threat for all epic TV series is nothing else but spoilers. As the end of such a series approaches, many people want to take a peek at the ending, and resort to all means to do that. They can either leak the final episode, inquire the cast until someone reveals it, or many other sneaky techniques. This is why the Game of Thrones creators decided to avoid such a situation, and will shoot alternate endings. In the end, no one but them will know which is the true ending.
Game of Thrones declared war on spoilers with the alternate endings
There is a Hollywood tradition that popular TV shows should take extreme measures to secure their ending, and not let it leak before the release. Game of Thrones will join in this tradition, and will shoot multiple endings for the series. This way, nobody from the cast or the crew will know how the story actually ends.
Many people expected such a thing to happen, since the Game of Thrones ending is way too valuable. Now, the president of programming at HBO, Casey Bloys, confirmed this hypothesis during a student conference at the Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This is a clever strategy so that no one on the set can reveal anything, since no one actually knows which is the real ending.
This way, the entire cast and crew will look forward to seeing the real ending
Many other popular TV series from Hollywood shot alternate endings, including Dallas, The Sopranos, or Breaking Bad. This way, everybody remains surprised, and no one can reveal anything, since the real ending remains a mystery until it is aired.
This strategy is, actually, more fun. It’s interesting to know that neither watchers nor the main actors are aware of how the story ends. This way, when the final episode is finally live, everybody can watch it in excitement, and be surprised at how it ends.
