Foles suffered the injury on the last play of the first quarter after being sacked by Texans linebacker Whitney Mercilus.
While there is no timetable set for the return of the Nick Foles, Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, did miss 7 weeks last season after suffering the same injury in a game against the Chicago Bears. The Eagles, who have played to a 6-2 record so far on the year, will have to rely on the arm of former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez if they hope to continue their winning ways, and maintain pace with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.
Foles has been great for the Eagles this year, being a key factor in their impressive record, and his loss will be something that the team may have difficulty overcoming in their efforts to make the push for a spot in the playoffs.
Sanchez, who made his 1st appearance in an NFL regular season contest since 2012. In place of Nick Foles, Mark Sanchez completed 15 of 22 passes for 202 yards, as well as 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
While Sanchez’s first appearance in an NFL regular season game certainly left some to be desired, Sanchez did do enough to help the Eagles to their 6th win on the season.
Sanchez joined the Eagles this season after being injured in the preseason before the 2013-2014 season, giving Geno Smith his first opportunity to lead a team. Sanchez departed the team this offseason after multiple seasons of underperforming after helping lead the Jets to two consecutive AFC championships during his first 2 seasons in the league.
In order for the Philadelphia Eagles to maintain their position within their division an continue make a push towards the playoffs, Sanchez will have to leave a lot of the struggles he endured as a Jet, back in New York.
While there are certainly worse positions to be in as the season enters the 2nd half, the Eagles hope that Foles return to health is quick.
