Telltale Signs that Your Body is too Acidic and Losing Calcium

'acidic body'

A highly acidic body has subtle ways to signal that those acid foods are too much.

A highly acidic body can later lead to a cohort of health issues because low pH levels create an optimal environment for yeast, bad bacteria, and viruses to thrive.

What’s more, as pH levels continue to sink and acidity within the body keeps rising, the body will start to siphon vital minerals from organs and tissues to neutralize and discard the extra acid from the system.

This is why, an acidic body is often associated with depleted reserves of calcium, potassium, magnesium and other minerals, which can later trigger more health problems. But it takes years for the damage to be sensed and the health issues are often irreversible.

The Western diet which is rich in meats, diary products, and added sugars is known for years to promote acidification inside the human body. Acid-producing foods, however, can be neutralized if we boost the intake of alkaline foods.

To learn whether your body may be too acidic, you should keep track of the following symptoms:

– you have a poor immune system (for instance, you catch colds, infections easily)
– you are constantly fatigued and lack vital energy
– you struggle with yeast overgrowth issues such as candidosis
– you are prone to kidney or bladder infections
– you feel you aged earlier than people your age
– you gain weight easily
– you are at risk or have been diagnosed with diabetes
– you have headaches, you often feel sleepy or confused
– your gums are often inflamed or sensitive
– your neck is stiff, bones are brittle – they break easily
– you have joint or muscle pain
– you have a recurrent acne problems
– you are prone to develop allergies.

Though the said symptoms can signal more serious medical conditions –and you should pay your GP a visit, rather than take online advice–, they are also telltale signs that your body struggles with excess acid.

A pH test should tell you whether there is a disturbance in your pH balance. An optimal pH reading should be above 7.35, doctors recommend. What is below that threshold is considered unhealthy and a sign that acidosis affects the body.

Experts recommend to not rely on your taste buds or sense of smell to discern whether a type of food promotes acidification or not. For instance, lemons which were long thought to be highly acidic are in fact alkaline-forming foods, as recent research has suggested. Scientists found that gut bacteria oxidize the acids from lemons and turn them into carbon dioxide and water.

You should also look for foods rich in calcium, iron, potassium, and sodium since these foods promote an alkaline environment within the body.
