Willow Smith, the daughter of famous actors Will Smith and Jada-Pinkett Smith, has recently revealed that she went through a very dark period and a lot of struggles following the success of her hit single Whip My Hair. On a recent episode of Red Table Talk, the 17-year old opened up about her past problems and revealed to her mother, Jada, and her grandmother, Adrienne, that she used to cut herself and self-harm in order to deal with what the music industry was asking of her.
When the song was receiving so much success, Willow was only a 9-year old girl. At the time, the only thing that she wanted was to figure out who she was. However, executives demanded a finished album from her, which she refused to do. What followed after that was a very dark period, which, according to Willow, felt like being thrown into a black hole. That was the moment when she began cutting herself and doing some other crazy things that she didn’t reveal anything about until now.

Jada and Adrienne were extremely shocked to find out these horrible details about Willow. She explained that she would cut her wrists and was then making sure that nobody would see them. Not friends, not family. Smith admitted that for a brief moment, she completely lost her sanity. Thankfully, five years have passed since then and she is now doing fine and enjoying her youth.
Willow has many times talked about the struggles of growing up with famous parents and always being under the spotlight. According to her, people feel like they have the right to know everything about you. She also said that a lot of teenagers are struggling with self-harm and that they should receive professional help and the support of their families.
