LG’s Watch Urbane Luxe Is One Step Up the Ladder
For those of you with some economies to spare and a keen eye for de-luxe-meets-tech, LG launched its deluxe version of LG Watch Urbane.
The smart wearable is called nothing else than LG Watch Urbane Luxe and beats its more modest predecessor by about 851 dollars. That is, compared with the line version of the wearable that took to the markets at a price tag of 349 dollars, the higher-end brethren comes for a price tag of 1,200 dollars.
The rather pricey cost is justified by the 23-karat gold casing and the five different alligator leather straps. Surely, those always spelled a large wallet. LG announced that only 500 pieces will be made available, all with their own individual engravings to attest their originality. Come October, the wearables are to be shipped to those who pre-ordered it in Reeds Jewelry stores or on the reeds.com website.
Certainly, the smart LG watch in its deluxe version is not for everyone. But in LG’s own words, LG Watch Urbane Luxe
“was designed with a specific wearer in mind”.
That is the Android fan with sufficient disposable income to bring this sleek, up-end wearable home. Looking beyond the 1,200 dollars price tag and the costly materials, Watch Urbane Luxe features a circular display, fine-looking and measuring 1.3 inches. This sports 320×320 pixels and 245 ppi.
It is only 10.9mm in thickness and packs a Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU, 512 MB LPDDR2 RAM, and a 410mAh battery, guaranteeing a smooth operating time of 48 hours without recharge. For all those applications, 4GB of internal storage space should be sufficient.
It seems tech companies such as LG and Apple and not only have picked up the arms in a race to win the hearts of high-end customers. These smart wearables are transgressing the boundaries from functional to real craftmanship and lots of effort is being invested in design and marketability. It was only in March when Apple released the 18 karat gold Apple Watch, much pricier than Watch Urbane Luxe.
As for the latter, Chris Yie, who is the VP and lead of marketing at LG Mobile Communications Company, commented:
“This blending of craftsmanship and technology is a natural evolution of the smartwatch, which is becoming more of a lifestyle accessory than a piece of hardware. We think this is a good direction for wearables and we want to encourage this transformation”.
Watch Urbane Luxe will also be made available in a Polished Silver version and the Gold Finish version.
