Verizon is one of the most expensive carriers in the United States. Now they are planning to raise the prices even more. They are also making changes to their unlimited data plan. The company has a different definition of unlimited data. This is because they mentioned that they want to disconnect users who use more than 200GB per month.
The 200GB limit is going to be put in the unlimited data plan. The company said that people should not use more than that because they are going to be pushed to other contracts or they will be disconnected for good.
This is not such great news for Verizon users because they will have to pay even more for less data. A spokesperson from Verizon mentioned that users will be moved to a new unlimited data plan starting February 17.
Verizon is also offering other plans that include 100GB and additional 2GB per line. The price is much more expensive because it is going to be raised to $450 per month. This is even more expensive than the unlimited data plan. The company said that the speed of the connection will be throttled once people use more than 200GB a month.
Users who don’t pick one of these plans are going to be disconnected. They are going to have 50 days to reconsider and activate their account again. The only way to activate the account, of course, is to pick a new plan. This means that Verizon’s users don’t have an alternative.
This is not the first time Verizon puts a limit to its unlimited data plan. Last summer they put the limit at 500GB per month. They also said that those who use more than 500GB will be disconnected. Now they are lowering the limit at 200GB in order to make users reconsider the unlimited plan. This is because they want people to choose one of their capped offerings.
In 2015 they also raised the price of the unlimited data plan to $49.99. This price did not include talk and text fees which raised the monthly price to $100. These changes might not please their customers and they might even lose their popularity.
What is your opinion about the changes that Verizon is making? Do you think that people will continue to use Verizon?
