Tom Hardy refers to his character as “we” in the newly-released full-length trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man villain movie Venom. The trailer was actually presented on Monday at CinemaCon, as Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman joked that they didn’t actually forget to include the anti-hero in the movie. This was a reference to the fact that Venom’s appearance wasn’t revealed at all until now, and some fans were wondering whether he would appear at all. Tom Hardy portrays Eddie Brock, better known as Venom, the result of an accident that transforms the journalist into the popular anti-hero.
This is not actually a Spider-Man: Homecoming-related movie, but rather a standalone collaboration between Sony and Marvel that will be its own thing. Eddie Brock is an aspiring journalist who wants to get a good story about Dr. Carlton Drake, played by Riz Ahmed. Michelle Williams plays his girlfriend, who will supposedly not be a damsel in distress type of character. The cast also includes Woody Harrelson and Jenny Slate, among others. Initially, the first look at the movie debuted back in February, but it didn’t actually show Venom. Fans were not very happy about that, but it seems that in the end, they got what they wanted.
First look at Venom
Eddie Brock finds out about Dr. Carlton Drake’s tests that are hurting people and tries to go against him. However, after coming back home, he realizes that something has changed. He feels sick and hears voices. He singlehandedly takes down some of Drake’s henchmen and finally, Broke transforms into the symbiote that we all know.
The final shot of the trailer reveals his appearance completely, with the huge teeth, dark and gooey skin and enormous tongue sticking out. The frightening raspy voice is also there, and fans will probably be pretty happy about how one of the most popular anti-heroes in the Marvel universe turned out. Venom opens everywhere on October 5th.
