Jake Bilardi, the Australian teen who recently joined ISIL is believed to have committed a suicide bombing in Iraq. Members of his family found explosives in his home in Melbourne. He had an alternate plan to bomb various consulates and important buildings in his hometown if he was not permitted to enter Syria.
The 18-year-old had a blog written under the pseudonym Abu Abdullah Al-Australi where he had posted a 4,400-word manifesto entitled “From Melbourne to Ramadi: My Journey”. In the blog post, he described how he changed from an atheist student to a “soldier of the Khilafah [caliphate]” preparing to give his life “for Islam in Ramadi, Iraq”.
He also said he couldn’t stand the “corruption and filthiness” he saw in the Australian society and that he wanted to live in the Islamic State among Muslims.
Officials believed Bilardi was “Britain’s white jihadi” but it later turned out he was an Australia citizen whose mother passed away when he was 13. He gave up school last year when he decided he wanted to join the ISIL organization.
It is believed the Australian teen died in a suicide bombing which took the lives of 17 people on Wednesday March 11 in the Iraqi province Anbar.
ISIL posted a photo which depicts the young Abu Abdullah Al-Australi before the attack. He was in a four-wheeled vehicle that had a broken window covered with tape, driving on a dusty road. Another photo was laid on top of the first. The second image showed a person in the driver’s seat which looked very much like Bilardi.
Australian authorities were currently unable to verify if the teen died in the Anbar bombings.
It seems he had a plan B in case he wouldn’t be able to travel to the Middle East. In his manifesto he said he was planning on bombing various consulates and shopping centers in Melbourne. He wrote:
“Fearing possible attempts by the increasingly-intrusive authorities in Australia to prevent my departure I began drawing up a Plan B.”
He intended on “launching a string of bombings across Melbourne, targeting foreign consulates and political/military targets”. Knife and grenade attacks were also planned on various shopping centers and cafes. The climax of his plan involved strapping explosives around his torso and detonating them”among the kuffar [infidels]”.
