Fans of the Chicago Bulls can let out a little sigh of relief, as star point guard Derrick Rose merely tweaked his ankles in the 2nd quarter. Despite playing the rest of the game, there was some concern he may be forced to miss some time. If he does miss any time, it should be minimal.
The Bulls point guard sat out the last 2 games the Bulls played with ankle sprains, but returned in yesterday’s 95-86 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. In 31 minutes played Derrick Rose scored 13 pints and dished out 7 assists.
Rose tweaked his ankles in a 2nd quarter collision, but Rose remains optimistic that he should be able to play in the Fridays scheduled game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Ever since Rose returned this season following 2 devastating knee injuries that forced the 26 year old Rose to miss the majority of each of the last 2 seasons, there has been a lot of talk and specualtion about whether or not the point guard will ever be able to return to the form he had when he won MVP of the league.
After Wednesday’s game, Rose was questioned about the criticism he has faced regarding his injuries and said that he doesn’t believe that speculation regarding his health will ever truly go away.
“I can’t pay no attention to it,” Rose said. “It’s going to always be there. Even if I make it through the season healthy, my first playoff game is going to be like, ‘OK, this is a new journey. Is he going to be healthy through the playoffs?’ So it’s fine. Even if I play the whole year and I don’t get injured again, next year it’s going to be the same thing. So I can’t get mad at it; it’s just the way people think. Just people’s opinions about the situation.”
While there was certainly a mild scare regarding the health of Rose following the game against the Bucks, there can be no doubt that Rose was still able to have a positive influence on the Bulls performance.
There is no question that the Bulls are a stronger team when they have a healthy Rose manning the point.
