When your mother told you to eat your broccoli when you were young, she wasn’t wrong. Broccoli, cabbage, and avocado are 3 super-foods that can keep you young. These foods are good for anybody, no matter the age or preference.
A new study found that these 3 super-foods contain a compound by the name of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN). This is believed to slow the aging process. It can also help strengthen the bones and help the liver work properly. The miracle compound can also help strenghten the metabolism and improve eye functions.
The research was conducted on mice and some of the findings revealed that the mice gained less weight. This happened despite the fact that they were eating more and aging. Scientists believe that the one responsible for the aging process is the NMN compound and if our body has low levels, we age more quickly than we should.
This compound was tested on mice that were “older.” According to the paper, they tended to age slower than before. Researchers also discovered that mice are just like us, once they get older their metabolism is affected and their energy levels become lower. The researchers mentioned that the compound NMN did not have the same effect in young mice because they have their own NMN.
Once humans get older, their nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD) also start to drop. However, researchers found that these super-foods help us by giving us the extra NMN that we need to produce more NAD, thus keeping our bodies young.
Why do scientists say that these super-foods will make us younger?
The super-foods like broccoli, avocado, and cabbage are the only ones that contain the compound NMN in higher levels. This means that we just need to eat a normal ratio of these super-foods in order to stay healthy and to keep our body young.
Even before this study, our doctors and parents advised us to eat all of these green vegetables. To the parents’ delight, now scientists proved that avocado, broccoli, and cabbage are great for us because of NMN compound. Maybe now more people will start eating healthier and they will include these super-foods in their diets.
