Regardless of other statements that might not truly reflect reality, Sarah Palin did have a point at the Climate Hustle premiere in the United States when she said that Bill Nye is no true scientist. Climate Hustle is a climate skeptic movie and was recently screened in Washington DC.
In her own words, Palin has declared that
“Bill Nye is as much a scientist as I am. He’s a kid’s show actor. He’s not a scientist.”
However, on the subject of climate change, the former Governor of Alaska might actually have a more solid grasp on the matter. Sarah Palin went on to suggest the existence of an agenda created by the people who believe she is controlling the narrative on weather changes. These people apparently know what they are talking about since they studied extensive data on climate change and are thus sending it to the public. However, they also erroneously believe the government can change the weather. In her opinion, their motive is allowing the government to gain more control over everyone, their homes, businesses and lives on the whole.
On the other hand, liberal media supporters, Bill Nye should not be taken lightly, since he has a mechanical engineering degree, as well as being a Planetary Society executive. After hosting a kids show about science from 1983 until 1998, Bye has remained a popular figure among its viewers. As a result, Nye is smartly making use of his influence to follow his motives. Unfortunately, he has also chosen the path of fearmongering. For instance, during the press conference of Climate Hustle, a video was broadcasted featuring Nye who was seriously stating that those who deny climate change should “be subject to criminal investigations”.
According to The Federalist, Sarah Palin was correct when she stated that Nye is not a scientist. He has earned his degree at the Cornell University but has never published a peer-reviewed paper in any scientific journal. The Washington Post suggested that Palin might have used a red herring when attacking Nye, who was simply stating the lessons given by vast research.
However, the whole controversy misses the most important point, which is a question that is haunting many of us: if global warming was caused by humans, is it truly about to become a real threat to our world?
