On Friday, GOP presidential hopeful and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee explained that the lone shooter who took the life of three people inside a PP clinic, but was unaffiliated with a pro-life group, din an act of domestic terrorism.
Huckabee also said that killing people was wrong both inside and outside PP facilities. He added that there is no excuse for murder whether it is inside the clinics where thousands of unborns are killed on a daily basis or outside those clinics.
The Republican presidential candidate believes that Robert Lewis Dear’s action can be deemed an act of domestic terrorism. He also declined any association between the shooter and the pro-life movement.
He explained that no pro-lifer has ever suggested violence as a solution to Planned Parenthood controversial acts. He also launched an invitation to any critic to name at least one pro-life leader or member that ever touted violence as a solution in the abortion debate.
Nevertheless, some critics including presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton have made some attempts to exploit the shooting as a reason to further promote the abortion business.
As of Monday, the Planned Parenthood shooter appeared before a court for the first time. Most of the hearing he remained silent and kept his eyes closed. A judge informed him that he was jailed on first-degree murder suspicions and that he now risks life imprisonment or even death penalty.
The next hearing was slated for Dec. 9.
Dear, 57, is now accused of gunning down a law enforcement officer and two civilians last week. The shooting may fuel even more the abortion debate. Prosecution declined to unveiled the motive of the crimes but Dear reportedly mentioned ‘baby parts’ during the investigation and made some anti-government statements.
Mayor of Colorado Springs, John Suthers, believes that the motive behind the attack may be linked to the setting of the shooting – a Planned Parenthood clinic. In U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s view, the killings were crimes against women, while PP head Vicki Cowart thinks that the shooter might be opposed to ‘safe and legal abortion.’
Three people were killed during the attack and nine more were injured. This prompted both Huckabee and PP leaders called the attack a ‘form of terrorism.’
Huckabee also deemed the shooting ‘abominable’ especially for groups supporting unborn babies’ right to life. The former Arkansas governor stressed that anyone that links the rampage to the pro-life movement is doing it erroneously.
