Pinterest Integrates IFTTT and Polyvore, first results of May-launched Developer Platform
Pinterest just made it easier for us avid and less avid users to pin our favorite images from across the web with Polyvore and IFTTT integration.
See a dreamy vacation location on Instagram and wish to save it in that special folder on Pinterest? Go ahead, it’s easy. The same goes for Etsy, or Polyvore.
Pinterest’s developers platform was released in May this year. Now, the website is picking the fruits with the IFTTT and Polyvore integration. Cross-posting became serious business with using Pinterest credentials to log into other apps. Facebook features on the list, yes.
IFTTT integration allows Pinterest users to pin their favorites from Instagram, Etsy and a bundle of others of course, while taking advantage of numerous Pinterest features like tweeting pinned photos automatically.
Polyvore integration even allows photo set pinning directly to Pinterest. For the moment, the feature is only available for iOS and desktop PCs. Yet, the concept is interesting and holds a lot of promise.
If it is picked up by more websites, Pinterest might just become the next sharing hub with the great advantage of anonymity. Who knows if it couldn’t even replace Facebook, Google and Twitter log-ins if Pinterest integration really picks up.
The Product Manager of Pinterest, Joshua Inkenbrandt advertised the IFTTT and Polyvore integration in a blog post, saying:
“Any fashion, beauty, and home decor sets you make can be saved as Pins”,
adding that for the moment it is only available for iOS and desktop, yet the feature will definitely be made available for Android users as well.
A smart marketing move, the test version of integrating IFTTT and Polyvore showed a turnover of 132 percent increase in Pinterest board shares.
