Overwatch is considered by many the shooter of tomorrow. The game scored an increasing popularity since the gaming gods Blizzard announced their official release back in 2016. In only a month they gathered over 10,000 players. Blizzard has many surprises for the most loyal of fans.
Overwatch is available on all platforms, PC, PlayStation4 and Xbox One. Rumors suggested that Blizzard were considering the introduction of a cross-console gameplay. Although the cross between PC and gaming consoles will never be possible, since crossing mouse and keyboard with controllers poses some problems, the cross between PS4 and Xbox might actually be a thing.
There are several Overwatch editions. The regular edition is available for PC and can be purchased from Battle.net. The Overwatch Origins edition includes the regular game and, in addition, offers five skins: Overgrown Bastion, Security Chief Pharah, Strike-Commander Morrison, Blackwatch Reyes, and Slipstream Tracer). The best part is that it offers content for other Blizzard games, such as Heroes of the Storm – Tracer Hero, World of Warcraft – Baby Winston Pet, StarCraft II Portraits, Hearthstone Cardback, and Diablo III – Mercy Wings.
Blizzard prepared something special for diehard fans. Overwatch Collector’s Edition offers you everything in the Origins edition plus an 11 inch Soldier statue, a steelbook DVD case, a full color artbook, and the entire soundtrack. This pack is mostly sold out, however you may find it on Amazon, but for quite a high price.
You can purchase the regular and Origins editions from either the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store for PS4 and Xbox, or from Battle.net for PC.
Overwatch offers 21 heroes, allowing the players to pick whoever suits them best and offering them the possibility of several gameplays. Also, the game receives periodic updates. The newest includes a new map, Oasis, inspired from Middle Eastern cities like Dubai. Blizzards announced that new updates are on the way.
The incoming surprise is the Overwatch seasonal event which celebrates the Chinese New Year. Blizzard will be releasing a special Overwatch Year of the Rooster edition on 24th January 2017. They have not announced what surprises it would include, but we can guess they have prepared a new skin for Mei.
Judging from other seasonal events, other surprises may include new skins for more characters, redesigns of some maps and, maybe, a temporary game mode themed according to the celebration.
