Maintain a rigorous exercising routine to keep lower back pain away say researchers with the University of Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Lower back pain is an acute or a chronic issue affecting 80 percent of the global population. If you’ve never experienced lower back pain in your life, you’re among the few lucky people. For the rest, this kind of pain mainly takes away any will to move at all. However, it is recommended to maintain a rigorous exercising routine to keep lower back pain away.

The study led by Doctor Timothy S. Carey and Doctor Janet K. Freburger of the University of Carolina at Chapel Hill was published in the JAMA Internal Medicine on Monday. The researchers analyzed a host of other studies recommending a variety of treatments or therapies to counter lower back pain.

The results were surprising and perhaps rather paradoxical. Nonetheless, of all available treatments and therapies, a rigorous exercising routine is the best option. If we were exposed to enhanced educational programs emphasizing lower back pain exercises, appropriate postures and others, the results would be even more sizeable according to the research team.

Exercising regularly is the most efficient way to tackle lower back pain. Regardless of the type of exercises one engages in, as long as they’re executed correctly they will have a positive effect on strengthening your back. Stronger muscles and a fitter back means heightened support for the spine and not only. A correct posture while sitting or lying down also depends on the fitness of your back to a high degree.

According to the research team the trick is really to maintain a rigorous exercising routine throughout our lifetime. The exercises don’t have to have a high degree of difficulty or be very intensive. Aerobics, running, medical exercises, strength training, swimming and others are just as helpful in fending off lower back pain.

Despite these findings, the researchers stated that physicians often neglect to inform patients about the benefits of exercising. This may happen due to the fact that we aren’t thinking of an exercising routine as a treatment or therapy. Nonetheless, according to both Doctor Freburger and Doctor Carey, exercising regularly is more effective in treating lower back pain than any drug or expensive device on the market.

Thus, it’s important that if you experience lower back pain episodes you find the will to exercise and maintain the exercising routine to reap the benefic effects.
