Everybody knows that it takes a lot to make rapper Kanye West smile with all his heart. However, it seems that he doesn’t have any problem to cry when it comes to some of his closest people. On Thursday, he and wife Kim Kardashian West attended the Louis Vuitton fashion show which was the debut of the spring 2019 menswear collection. The event took place in the garden of the Palais-Royal, during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. The reason for Kanye’s emotional burst was the success of his longtime friend and former creative director Virgil Abloh.
Louis Vuitton recently hired him to be the new menswear artistic director. Apart from being a big step forward for him, Abloh is also the first African-American person to hold this title. This made his inaugural show, which Kanye attended, a very emotional moment. There were also a lot of other famous guests, including Rihanna and Kylie Jenner with Travis Scott. Towards the end of the show, Abloh walked down the green runway to thank everyone and pointed to West. They both hugged and started sobbing as people around filmed the emotional moment.

It’s worth noting that the fashion show also featured the song I Thought About Killing You off Kanye West’s new album called Ye, and his collaborator and friend, Kid Cudi, walked the runway as a model. West met Abloh back in the 2000s and have been close friends and creative collaborators ever since. In 2009, Abloh became the creative director of West’s company DONDA. He is also the art director for West’s album Watch the Throne, which earned him a nomination at the Grammys.
Even if at first West didn’t know what to think about Abloh leaving him to work at Louis Vuitton, he then called what happened validation. He is reportedly now proud that someone that has worked with him since the beginning is the head at Louis Vuitton.
