Now that actress Jessica Chastain is officially going to star in the upcoming IT: Chapter 2 as the adult version of Beverly, two other popular actors are reportedly in talks for the much-anticipated sequel to the Stephen King clown horror story. James McAvoy and Bill Hader are currently in talks to join the movie as two other important members of the Losers Club. McAvoy is in talks for the role of Bill, previously played by Jaeden Lieberher, while Hader is in talks for the role of Richie, previously portrayed by Finn Wolfhard.
Also, director Andy Muschietti is also set to return to helm the second installment, with Gary Dauberman writing the script. According to sources, the talks are still in their very early stages as the script is still being written. However, there is a very big chance that these two actors will take on the adult versions of Bill and Richie. Moreover, Bill Skarsgard is also going to return as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. The production for the movie starts this summer, with an expected September 6, 2019 release.
James McAvoy and Bill Hader for It: Chapter 2
According to an interview with Muschietti from last year, he is hoping to bring back all of the child actors for some very important flashback scenes. However, according to some sources, that is still being negotiated. Since the movie’s release, all of them have become big stars with projects coming up and it has become difficult to get them all together at the same time.
The first movie was a huge success, with $700 million worldwide and $327 domestically. As for James McAvoy, he is used to acting in franchises, having previously starred as Professor X in the X-Men movie franchise. As for Hader, he is mostly known for his comedic abilities which he will get to display in the role of Richie, the joker of the Losers Club.
