Saturday night, an unidentified female driver in Miami Beach was gunned down and killed after she ran her BMW over a police officer trying to stop her.
According to the local police, the driver was driving a black BMW at the time of the incident. Witnesses said they saw the woman go through a red light and crash into another car after leaving Ocean Drive.
Miami Beach Police said the car was speeding on 12th Street from Ocean Drive. The woman ignored the traffic stop, hit a car at the intersection with Collins, but decided to flee the scene west on 12th Street.
After reaching Lincoln Drive, she hit another occupied car. Several witnesses surrounded the BMW and urged the woman to get out of the vehicle. The car was immobilized until the police arrived.
The Woman Runs Over Officer
When police officers asked the woman to get out, she started the engine and hit one of the cops urging her to get out. A witness said the injured police officer was positioned in front of the woman’s car, but when he and his colleague started yelling at her to get out she ran him over.
The two cops started shooting at the car, injuring the woman behind the wheel. The wounded officer and driver were rushed to a nearby hospital. The female driver died hours later, while the officer was deemed in stable condition.
The police said that the law enforcement agent that was injured was propelled into the asphalt and lost consciousness for a period of time. A police spokesman described the officer’s condition “stable and alert”. Doctors are reportedly treating his head injury. It wasn’t immediately clear how many internal injuries he has suffered.
