On Tuesday, famous fashion designer Kate Brosnahan Spade was found dead in her Manhattan apartment. According to the police, it seems that her housekeeper found her hanged with a scarf. Near her body was a suicide note which addressed her daughter and husband. Spade is the creator of the iconic handbag that was all over the Main Street. Now, the company has over 140 retail shops and outlet stores in the United States and over 175 of them all over the world.
However, despite her success, Kate decided to leave her brand behind. Back in 1999, she and her husband sold 56% of it to Neiman Marcus. In 2007, Liz Claiborne bought the entire company and Spade completely left her business behind. Back in May 2017, the luxury company Coach announced plans to acquire Kate Spade for $2.4 billion. The company issued a heartfelt statement which they posted on the official Twitter account. It said that despite the fact that Kate was no longer associated with the brand, she and her husband were still the founders and creative minds behind it.
