April Fools marks the day when many companies release special content. Some of them might actually be pranks, while others choose to release actual content. For instance, this April Fools’ Day, Sega launched Bayonetta in an 8-bit version and it is available for free on Steam.
8-bit Bayonetta free on Steam
Thus, if you have a Steam account, you can download the award-winning game and play it immediately. And all is for free. Also, you cannot miss the chance of living all the experiences in Bayonetta in 8-bit version.
This nice version of the game is accessible to anybody, as it is easy to play and user-friendly. However, it looks rather like a mini-game which is usually included in a bigger game. Some even compared it to Doom 3 and the expansion Resurrection of Evil. In this game, you could either choose to play it until the end or use some sort of gateways which directed you towards Doom 1 or Doom 2.
How does the game work?
Therefore, this might be exactly the thing that Sega would release on such an event. But what does the mini-game consist of? You can play the main hero Bayonetta in a pixelated form. Thus, this form will not allow her to use her hair to cast spells, neither will you receive all the magic gear that made the game exciting. You can only make use of a small gun which shoots slugs.
If you played Metroid Prime before, the graphics of the new game might look familiar to you. The creators might have also drawn inspiration from the Contra series, too. Therefore, it is not so complex. All you have to do is shoot as many monsters as possible and survive as long as you can.
Think this is rather an April Fools’ prank? It might be, since you are offered only one gun and the only way to escape from your enemies is jumping over them. And you have to deal with two kinds of enemies, some soldiers and some demon heads. Therefore, it is like an old-school game where you do not have many abilities.
